- IPM, Pesticides and Risk: Musing on Messaging. Presented by Dan Wixted of Cornell. This presentation highlights the importance of messaging in regards to the risk and concerns associated with pesticides.
- Right-of-way Label Updates. Presented by Bob York of BASF. This presentation will describe Plateau seedhead suppression and plant growth regulation. This presentation will also describe label changes and new product information on BASF herbicides used in right-of-way applications in New York State.
- Right-of-way Label Updates. Paul Conti of Alligare. This presentation will describe label changes and new product information on Alligare herbicides used in right-of-way applications in New York State.
- DEC Regulatory Updates. Presented by Brian Primeau of NYS DEC. This presentation will provide information on the proposed DEC pesticide regulatory changes along with other pertinent regulatory updates as they pertain to right-of-way herbicide operations.
- Have you really read that herbicide label? Presented by Mike Helms of Cornell. This presentation will use audience participation allowing the applicators to take a closer look at what information is on ROW herbicide labels, including mandatory/advisory text and confusing/confounding label language.

- Morning Safety Briefing. Presented by Mike Helms of Cornell. Using audience participation, this presentation will look at safety precautions ROW applicators can take when using herbicides, including where to find relevant safety information.
- Right-of-way Label Updates. Presented by TBD for Corteva Agrisciences. This presentation will describe label changes and new product information on Corteva Agrisciences herbicides used in right-of-way applications used in New York State.
- Envu Chemistry. Presented by William (Jesse) Peery for Envu. This presentation will describe Envu chemistry, how it works and where to apply within ROW use sites as used in right-of-way applications used in New York State.
- Customer interactions with landowners. Presented by Amy Ferriter of Nutrien. This presentation will provide the right-of-way applicator with a better understanding of customer interactions with landowner.
- Plant ID Technology for the ROW applicator. Presented by Brent Boscarino of NY/NJ Trail Conference. This presentation will provide the right-of-way applicator with a clear understanding of technology that is available to assist with plant ID in the field.
- IVM and Pollinators. Presented by Lewis Payne of the New York Power Authority. This presentation will tie Integrated Vegetation Management to the importance of pollinators on the right-of-way. This presentation will look at the steps the ROW applicator can incorporate into an IVM program to promote pollinators on the ROW.

Field Session 1: Interactive Demonstrations teaching participants the skills and knowledge to be compliant and effective applicators
Location – Bass Pro Shops Parking Lot
PPE – Attendees will need to be prepared with hardhats, safety glasses, high visible vests, and appropriate footwear for Right of Way conditions in order to attend this field session. No PPE will be provided.
This field session will consist of 3 stations. The group will be broken up between the three training stations and each group will rotate through the respective training stations.
- Station 1: A demonstration of specialized equipment and technology designed and fabricated for the successful application of roadside
vegetation management pesticides. “Road Fox” Apple – Based rate control system for vegetation management will be introduced to participants.

Station 2: A demonstration of spray nozzles - specifically choosing the correct nozzle for the specific target plants, formulation,
the application environment, and the overall goal of the application. Discussions will give options for various equipment used in both
the Category 6 Roadside and Utility application, as well as landscape and forestry applications.

Station 3: Introduction of IVM principles and application techniques learned on the Electric Transmission System to create an IVM
program for Natural Gas ROW. The judicious use of herbicide applications to drive safety and efficiency in the Natural Gas pipeline
environment will be demonstrated.

- Techniques, equipment and solutions for applications in equipment inaccessible areas.

This program will have two presenters, each with a presentation station.

Station 1: ROW herbicide calibration of a DOT spray rig Presented by Al Gehm and Chris Byce of NYSDOT. This presentation will do a ‘hands-on’ walk thru of calibrating a piece of equipment used in DOT spray operations with participation from the attendees.

Station 2: ROW herbicide calibration of a foliar backpack. Presented by Levi Rudd of NYSDOT. This presentation will actually do a ‘hands-on’ demonstration of the calibration of backpack foliar equipment with participation from the attendees.
